Randol R. Spaulding, CEO
Spaulding Clinical Research
In 2007, Randol R. Spaulding founded Spaulding Clinical Pharmacology and Spaulding Properties. At present, Spaulding Clinical Pharmacology has over 100 employees and boasts the most technologically advanced, fully-automated Research Unit with data quality unmatched by competitors. While establishing the Clinical Pharmacology unit, Randy seized the opportunity to further enhance clinical research by designing a new ECG device. In 2010, he opened Spaulding Core Labs, a Cardiac Safety testing center for new drugs under development. With the launch of Spaulding iQTM in 2011 – Spaulding Clinicals handheld, proprietary ECG device – the company quickly caught global attention. Spaulding Medical was formed in 2012, taking this leading ECG technology into the healthcare market. Between all business units, Randy employs over 140 people and is driving year-over-year growth at a rate of 300%. In 2012 he was named “CEO of the Year” for Southeastern Wisconsin, in 2011 named provider of “Best Company Direction,” and Spaulding Clinical was acclaimed as a “Top 5 Workplace” for 2011 and 2012.
Previously, Randy was the Vice President of Clinical Research at Mortara Instrument from 2004 to 2007, where he oversaw product development, support, sales and marketing of cardiac safety products for the clinical research market. It was here that he caught the vision of a completely paperless, automated and fully-integrated Clinical Research Unit that later became Spaulding Clinical Research.
Randy also worked for GE Medical Systems from 1998 to 2004, where he served as the General Manager of Global Cardiology Services and became a Six Sigma Master Black Belt. He also completed several years of intense finance training at the Jack Welch Center in Crotonville, New York.
Randy began his career in 1983 as an engineer for Marquette Medical Systems. Over the next 10 years, he was involved in the design, signal processing, manufacturing, quality control, marketing, and selling of many award-winning global diagnostic ECG products, progressing to the role of Product Business Manager. During this time, he developed a web-based Holter data acquisition and review system for which he received a Global Technology Patent Award. In 1993, Randy was assigned as lead business integrator for two of Marquette’s largest corporate acquisitions.
Randy has been published numerous times and has presented at many scientific conferences, specifically related to the topic of cardiology and QT interval measurements. He is also the recipient of the State of Wisconsin’s Governor’s Best New Product of the Year Award. Randy and his wife Amy reside in West Bend, Wis., where they have raised their six children.
